Bounty Doubled for Apex IKF Race!!! WANTED PRD Sr. Bounty Hunters $2000 Bounty.

With the criminal way Notorious Nick and Killer Kelly evaded the Santa Maria posse at the recent IKF Region 7 round RLV Inc. has doubled the bounty on their heads. Last month Art Verlengiere announced “RLV Inc. is putting a $1000 bounty on the heads of Nick Johnston and Bobby Kelley for each of the next three IKF Region 7 Races at Santa Maria, Apex, and Adams Motorsports Park”. Now with Johnston stealing the money at Santa Maria the price on their heads has doubled to $2000 for the upcoming race September 11-12 at Apex Karting Center. Any driver or drivers who finish in front of BOTH Johnston and Kelley in the official results at the Apex round will split the reward money of $2000 equally up to five positions. If one bounty hunter takes them down, all the money is his, but if it takes a posse to pull it off the reward money of $2000 will be divided among them.

Eye witness accounts in Santa Maria described Johnston/Kelley massacre in the final as less of an OK corral shootout and more as a driving clinic. It almost looked rehearsed as the two Position 1 drivers passed and passed again. Clean every lap the duo shot down all others hopes of claiming the weekend's bounty. Can anyone rise to the challenge and take down these wanted men, or will they get away cleanly yet again with $2000 in their pockets? Where IKF Region 7 has failed can Region 11 step up with drivers man or woman enough to capture the prize? If you can rush for gold why not saddle up your PRD and head to Apex to claim your CASH reward.

Race Report: IKF Region 7 Championship Series - Santa Maria

Racers in the IKF Region 7 Championship Series presented by Bridgestone headed slightly north this past weekend to Santa Maria for round # 3 in the Summer/Fall series. I have long been a great supporter of the track and its members for various reasons, most notably my well documented addiction to the Women of the Moose Tri-Tip sandwiches. Another one of my favorites is that all races held in the summer months should only be allowed to take place in the mild climate of the central coast's wine region. While many were enjoying the 100 degree heat index and sweating off parts of their body they didn't know they had back home in Indiana this weekend others were captivated by low 70's and a nice breeze.

Tech Update
Effective Immediately

We have grown increasingly concerned with the practice of running Junior and Kid Kart engines at full throttle, on the stand in both the pit and grid area.

This has resulted in numerous instances of blown up rotors that, in some cases ejected parts into surrounding areas. Additionally the practice of running on stands raises the issue of rapidly turning wheels just inches from the heads of junior drivers. We have been very fortunate that no serious injuries or deaths have occurred.

Accordingly we are implementing the following regulations for the grid and pit areas.
  1. The practice of running engines at high rpm’s for extended periods will no longer be allowed in pits, pre-grid or grid areas.
  2. When in the pre-grid area no running is allowed.
  3. When in grid area the engines may only be run on the ground not on stands.
  4. Kid Karts: At events where fuel is supplied will be allowed a minimum amount of low RPM running to ensure the fuel has reached the carburetor. This will only be allowed when under the direct supervision of a designated race official.
We realize that it is frequently necessary to run the engine after maintenance, This will only be permitted at modest RPM levels for limited periods of time. Extended running at RPMs above clutch stall speeds to preheat motors prior to racing is no longer permitted.

Remember Safety First.

Failure to adhere to these revised regulations will result in disqualification.

WANTED PRD Sr. Bounty Hunters.……..$1000 Bounty.

Santa Maria California. “Notorious” Nick Johnston and Bobby “The Killer” Kelley have officially been put on notice by RLV Inc. for the crimes of russlin Duffies, the collection of trophies without a permit, and excessive tagging of trailers with IKF win stickers. “RLV Inc. is putting a $1000 bounty on the heads of Nick Johnston and Bobby Kelley for each of the next three IKF Region 7 Races at Santa Maria, Apex, and Adams Motorsports Park” announced RLV’s Art Verlengiere. Any driver or drivers who finish in front of BOTH Johnston and Kelley in the official results at the next 3 races will split the reward money of $1000 equally up to five positions. If one hot shoe takes them down, all the money is his, but if it takes a posse to pull it off the reward money of $1000 will be divided among them. Johnston and Kelley have plenty of incentive to evade the challenges of those out to steal their glory. Should Kelley or Johnston win the race the $1000 bounty belongs to them alone.

Race Report: IKF Region 7 Championship Series - Willow Springs

Round 2 of the IKF Region 7 Championship Series presented by Bridgestone went off without a hitch at the famed Willow Springs Kart Track. The second episode of the Summer/Fall series was hosted by the Willow Springs Kart Club and TiMi Promotions. With the IKF 2-Cycle Sprint Grand Nationals only a few weeks away it was imperative that racers and crews got a little more track time before the big event. The always unpredictable Willow weather greeted us with highs in the 90s and a light breeze to make it seem just a bit cooler than it was. The heat shouldn't be a factor in a few weeks with the Grand Nationals running under the lights.

2010 IKF Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Series Update

It has been brought to my attention the announcement to modify the 2010 IKF Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Series has created some confusion regarding points distribution for the first race schedule (winter/spring).  The release stated “Whatever points you score will be added to the corresponding classes ran in the first series and also as race one of the second series”.

Clarification:  May 1st and 2nd LAKC will host the IKF Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Series race at Cal Speed Kart Track.  This race will be the last race of the first series and the first race of the second series (summer/fall).

Saturday afternoon:  Rookie Sportsman and TAG/Masters PRD TAG Controlled will race for points.  These points will be added to the Rookie Sportsman and TAG/Masters PRD TAG classes ran in the first series.

Sunday:

A. Kid Kart

B. JR I Comer

C. Komet-1

D. JR II PRD TAG Controlled

E.  Komet-2

F.  SR PRD TAG Controlled

G. Komet-4 @ 360 / SR Super sportsman RLV-3 pipe @ 340*

     *Run together-scored together-combined class

The above classes will race for points.  These points will be added to the Sunday classes of the first series.  The points for the SR PRD TAG Controlled class will be added to the Saturday class of the first series.  The points scored on Sunday will also be added as the first points earned for the second series.  All classes ran on Saturday in the first series except Rookie Sportsman and SR PRD TAG Controlled will be counted through the third race at Buffalo Bills.

It is my intent to create a situation that is equal and fair to everyone.  Is it perfect?  Probably not, but it’s the best I can offer to everyone.

Respectfully,

Art Verlengiere - Director, International Kart Federation/Regon-7, Coordinator

2010 Sprint Series Modification

Thursday April 1, 2010, the management of Tri-C cancelled the 2010 IKF. Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Series race scheduled for April 9th, 10th & 11th at Grange Motor Circuit.  Based on the pre-entries Tri-C concluded hosting the race could cause tremendous financial hardship on their club.  I did inform Tri-C the previous three races drew enough entries that would at least meet Tri-C’s break even point.  They determined the risk was too high and cancelled the race.  Based on their projections I supported their decision to cancel the race.  For all of you planning to attend the race I understand your dismay and perhaps your anger.  This decision was clearly unfortunate and unforeseen. I offer my most sincere thanks to everyone participating and supporting the Winter/Spring Series.  The Winter/Spring Series Championships will be awarded based on the four race series, points and participants will be fully enriched at the 2010 banquet.

The 2010 IKF Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Series will be modified as follows:

The one remaining race of the Winter/Spring schedule will become the forth and final race of the Winter/Spring Series and the first race of the Summer/Fall Series.  Your points will actually be recorded twice, once in each half of the series.  Whatever points you score will be added to the corresponding classes ran in the first series and also as race one of the second series.

 2010 Summer/Fall Schedule

May 1st & 2nd                           Los Angeles Kart Club        Cal Speed Kart Track

June 5th & 6th                         Willow Springs Kart Club   Willow Spring Kart Track

August 7th & 8th                     Santa Maria Kart Club        Santa Maria Kart Track

September 11th & 12th         APEX                                      APEX Raceway

October 2nd & 3rd                   So. Cal. Sprinters               Adams Kart Track

November 6th & 7th                EP1K                                      Cal Speed Kart Track

Championship Classes

A. Kid Kart

B. JR I Comer

C. Komet-1

D. JR II PRD TAG Controlled

E.  Komet-2

F.  SR PRD TAG Controlled

G. Komet-4 @ 360/SR Super Sportsman RLV-3 pipe @340*

     *Run together-scored together-combined class

H. “Promoters Choice”

May 1st & 2nd race will not offer a promoter choice class but will offer Rookie Sportsman and TAG/Master PRD Controlled.

The second half of the series will consist of six races, seven classes and one “optional” promoter choice class, for a possible total of eight classes for each race.  This will be a two day event, Saturday practice day and Sunday race day.  The second series will be the best 5 out of 6 races, which will allow one dropped race.  The following will apply when dropping a race:

The November 6th & 7th race may only be dropped if you take the green flag in the pre-final or final at the event.  Only the class participating in at the event will be dropped.  If you don’t take the green flag in the pre-final or final in the class at the event it cannot be dropped and will be counted in your total as zero points.

As long time supporters of IKF Region 7, Rod and Art Verlengiere of RLV/PRD-USA believe every company within the region and all past participants who have benefited from the superb Region 7 program should STEP UP now and support the “reloading” of the region.

In a major effort to provide stimulus to Region 7, RLV/PRD-USA will take the lead with the following incentive program:

Race PRD and receive an $80.00 refund per event in the 2010 IKF Region 7 Bridgestone Championship Summer/Fall Series

     1.  Must enter SR PRD TAG Controlled, JR II PRD TAG Controlled or JR I PRD TAG Controlled (if offered as promoter option class).

     2.  Must enter a second class.

     3.  Must take the green flag in the pre-final or final in both of the above classes.  This will be determined at the track by the official Region 7 scorer.  The decision at the track is final.

     4.  This proposal applies to the first twenty entries only, in each of the PRD classes listed above!

RLV reserves the right to modify the above terms and conditions at anytime without  notice.

     HPV-4 pipe trade

The first 15 racers to enter the Komet-4 class will receive an HPV-3 pipe trade in for their HPV-4 pipe.  (one trade in per racer)

2010 has been a bit trying but with the new schedule, the RLV/PRD-USA incentive program and Region 7 member commitment we expect a greatly improved series.

 Respectfully,

 Art Verlengiere

IKF Board of Director/Region 7 Coordinator

Cancellation of Round 4 of the Winter / Spring Sprint Series

Tri-C Karters regretfully announces the cancellation of Round 4 of the IKF Region 7 Winter / Spring Sprint Championship Series races scheduled for April 9 - 11 at Grange Motor Circuit.  With only seven days remaining until the race there are not enough confirmed entries.  Tri-C has determined that it isn’t financially feasible for Tri-C to host this event.  Based on this information the IKF Regional Coordinator is in agreement with this decision.

Club President, Chris Sarris, said that a combination of reasons forced the cancellation of this month’s round.  “Between the economic situation and competing events there just weren’t enough confirmed racers to warrant hosting this round.  However, Tri-C will continue to work with and support IKF events this year and hopes to host an IKF race next year."

Tri-C Karters has a long history of hosting IKF events and will continue to support upcoming events for the 2010 season and beyond.

Full refunds will be promptly made to all racers who sent in their entry forms and money.

All remaining IKF Region 7 Championship Series races will take place as scheduled.

'09 Leopard Weight Adjustment

As provided for in the 2010 IKF Rulebook, we have adjusted the weight for this engine to the same as the previous Leopard engine effective April 1, 2010.

While we have closely monitored other organizations results where both types of engines have been run at the same weight, we have not had broad basis for this decision.  We will continue to observe the situation and reserve the right to modify the weight accordingly.
